So good for you, KK! All that worry and your little ones are making their way safely to you! Congrats!!

I dunno what is happening to the ones who just don't make it. It just could be they were not strong enough to survive.

But I happens to all of us!

you opening the bator to check on them and mess about with the eggs? do you normally help out and check on them this much or is this an exception?

I NEVER touch the incubator in the last three days,

This time I did. And I am glad too. 5 of them would of never made it without me.

Weird that even with all my mess ups, and opening the incubator I got my best hatch rate. lol... hm

8 are doing great. One hatched but the yolk isn't absorbed all the way so I wraped him up in a wet washcloth and left him in. By tomorrow I should know if he makes it or goes down.

that is wierd

have you calibrated your hygro(s)? maybe that's the problem. what are you hatching at? ~65%?

good luck with washcloth. hope he makes it. and turns out to be a she.

I'm hatching at 65%.

And I've calibrated it yes.

Temp and Humidity stays stable. I don't know why. I've had 95% of the hatch make it to say 18 then die quite a few times. Gah.

and they dry out and get stuck at hatch? maybe you have "too much" ventilation in the bator/hatcher or too many plugs open. if that's the case you might have to bump your humidity up to compensate.

see here for an explanation if that doesn't make sense.

hth

They don't really seem to be dry. They seem perfectly normal. They just don't hatch...

A few of them I have noticed though.

They seem to have yolk inside the membrane still. Not like in a sac near their rump, but surrounding them. When they pip it runs out of the pip hole and they die. I saved one today from that. What causes them to be surrounded my yolk?

I woke up this morning to find he had hatched out fully and escaped the washcloth. So they are all in the brooder now.

I got 4 Buff Orp/Brahma Crosses, 2 Crested Polish/Brahma Crosses, and 3 Easter Eggers.

Pictures hopefully later. Right they they still look a little yucky. lol

I got this weird genetic mutant from a polish/Brahma mix a few months ago. It was nearly pure white, and looked like a brahma shape. It had like soft down-like feathers covering it's entire body.

But I've have hatched lots of this mix again, and every one comes out black.
