oh no...where's the gecko?! HELP!

My brother has two of these little guys. On the bright side they can't climb walls but they are little. I suggest leaving out a dish of water, it can help attract them, look behind everything, under and in everything, move furniture too. One was under the fridge once, plenty warm under there and a few bugs to eat as well.

Look under every piece of furniture ..even if it looks like the gecko wouldn't fit under it. You can also put a Kritter Keeper in the middle of the room ..filled with a few active, yummy bugs... and leave the lights off. This would work best with a low set heating pad nearby ..but not so near that you roast and toast the buggies.

The heat and the bugs will entice a Leopard gecko out of hiding ..most times.

...and don't under-estimate their climbing ability. If you have a glass tank that has silicone in the corners... toes/claws will adhere to it and they can either climb out ..or climb high enough and fall to an injury or death.

You can scatter flour or other powdery substances in areas and check them for foot prints to narrow down the hiding location. This is what I did to find snakes (although no foot prints) I also put dominoes up near the wall standing on end and that also narrowed down the location of the hider.

The gecko is still loose! We haven't seen her at all! I tried the heat lamp idea...I will try the bugs...she definitely could have gotten out of his room, she is not a really small one...she is about 6 inches long! We have turned the room upside down...I can't believe we can't find her. Not sure my DH would allow the flour or powder on the floor....we have carpet so not sure the dominoes would stand up....

I would try putting her cage on the floor...tipped so she can just climp right it...hey it worked with my lost mouse...

definitely check dark places, cracks, holes in the wall, and weird places.
i had a chinchilla get into a tiny hole in the wall once (not the same as a gecko), but animals get into strange places.
Put a kritter keeper full of crickets somewhere, she'll be lured by the sounds and smell.
maybe try a gecko forum, they could help you out too!

Heres what I did to find my little leopard gecko.

I put toilet paper rolls in all corners of my room and OUTSIDE my room ( yes they fit under doorways) I check the rolls everyday and I eventually find them sleeping in it

also since they are insectavores, you can try a plate of waxworms or silk worms since they dont crawl that much and put them under tables, chairs, corners...out of the way places.... Meal worms work too but mine always get out of the feeding dish. put a toilet paper roll next to the food so they just go in the roll (sometimes I close the other end of the roll so they feel more secure and are more likely to stay inside of it)

I hope you find your little ones gecko! My sister lost a couple turtles when I was younger, 2 never to be seen again, and when we moved we found and still have the shell to the other. Ick!

We used to loose hamsters all the time, mainly the babies, and boy when I would come across one I would always squeal like a baby! (yeah that was a couple years ago LOL) we would always find them though, using there favorite treats or they would come find out whats going on in the living room while watching TV and the rest of the house lights were out.
