Oh sounds like such a silly question...but how do chickens hear???

Same way we do, with their ears....

Even though they don't have external ears the way they do, they still have ear holes.

I can also give you the WAY too in depth answer if you want. The sound vibrates the air, when enters the ear and vibrates the tymphanic membrane, which moves the malleus, incus and stapes, which vibrates the oval window, causing the internal ear fluid to vibrate, opening potassium channels and causing an action potential.

Not only do they hear quite well, they understand everything you say! This evening I told my hubby I was going out to give the chickens some carrot peelings, I looked out the window and all the chickens were running to the gate of their pen, and I hadn't even opened the door yet!
