So here is my issue, I have seven hens and one rooster, good right? Well I have three hens that dude bro, that’s his name, is constantly mating with. One gal her back is bare. Chicken saddle does not stay on and in the arizona summer it is going to be warm to keep them dressed. What else can I do? The girls are happy and no signs of parasites. So it is totally dude bro. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed!

I use this design of hen saddles.

They stay on better.

How old is Dude Bro? Younger roosters are just relentless until about 2 years old. They can't control their hormones. I might suggest adding a couple more hens to the flock if you can't get the saddles to work for you. He's always going to have a favorite but adding more should help a bit. Some roosters do wonderful with a small flock, on the other hand some need large flocks. You've not found his sweet spot.

Also in Arizona myself. If you need to keep them dressed, I'd get a fan for them in a shaded area or even in their coop (both if you got the money). It gets ridiculously hot here as you know. I bit the bullet and had to run some duct work to fan in some ac from the house for them. I'm in the desert part and it was burning them up. It sucks money wise but it keeps them from suffering anymore. They run out and eat and play, then run back to the air conditioning area and chill.

Thank you for the advice! Dude bro is not quite a year old. His spurs I have noticed are getting pretty long those might have to be filed. Last year they did okay in the heat. We have a mister system set up and they enjoyed playing in that. We do run a fan in the coop when it gets to warm at night. As for adding more hens to the group I’m afraid that we will get over run, lol. My yard is okay in size I am just worried about the smell and the neighbors. We had 18 last year and it got too overwhelming. I gave them to a cousin who had the room to deal with them. Thank you for your advice! It’s very helpful!

Bare back chickens bother people more than it bothers chickens. And some hens are more prone to broken feathers and bare backs than others. Don't hatch their eggs. You might consider culling those birds, and adding new ones. Sometimes it is not his fault, but generally it is a combination.
