Oh what should I do? (has nothing to do w/ chickens)

go through the priciple BUT let him/her know you want updates and ensure they know that you are willing to go to Board of Ed if it is not handled to your satisfaction

Sounds like you have a smart son for writing off that jerk.

But you definetly should make certain something is done so no other child has to put up with that abuse. Why would someone bother to volunteer to be a chaperone if they were just going to be abusive anyways? Some people.

Sounds like they picked the wrong person to be a chaperone...I'm always crashing field trips so that I can keep an eyeball on the kids. So far this year they've been to the High School Planetarium and are going to Blue Hills Observatory/Trailside Museum, and to Emerson College to see a Shakespearean play. I'm going on the Blue Hills one. I've done a camp sleepover that had a houseful of girls...
Back to the original post, since I've digressed, go directly to the principal and see if the other chaperones will also call and let the principal know.
Some of the parents just go to say that they went and others just don't show up at all. I go because it's fun. LOL and you never know what you might learn.

Usually I try to go on as many field trips as possible. But on this one they had a limited number of chaperone slots, so it went to a lottery.

But, as of this morning it has been dealt with to my satisfaction. The principal at our school is great, I do have to say. And so are the great majority of the parents. It's also a good lesson for my son, that there are some real jerks out there, but you don't have to let their actions or words change who you are and what you stand for.
