OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Ha Ha Ha! She's only 10 min from me. Very dangerous! I happened upon the add on FB and texted immediately. I was there in under 30 min.

Considering how badly I suck at Chicken Math, I am really glad that I didn't know about her ad earlier. I was already planning on asking her about buying some chicks and I bought seven! Imagine what I might have come home with if I'd realized there was a sale!

Oh shoot!! That's awesome!! :) we'll my chick is getting a little big so wouldn't want to put it with day olds :( I think it's a couple months.
Oh I’m in Adams county, which is right next door! If you can’t find any chicks I’ll have a few that hopefully hatch under a broody the 21-23. But :fl you find some australorps! Glad you can have chickens now, just beware of chicken math lol

If that pic is current, I’d say about 3-4 weeks. My chicks are usually completely feathered in except the head and neck by 3 weeks. They grow up very fast!

And thank you btw!! But I'm already doomed hahahah

Lol that happens with chickens! I managed about 6 months before chicken math hit hard. I went from 7 to 50ish counting chicks!

It was the first! So almost 2 weeks ago! But yes they do!! I wasn't even sure if he was gonna make it, my 6 year old cousin was forced to give it to me! This is the first time I've ever had a chick and me and my kiddos are obsessed! before we had 4 hens, we had to get rid of them and now it's like I just want as many as our yard can handle!! hahaha

Ok looking for opinions! (I know everyone here has them) I just found mites on the little girl I picked up Tuesday. Literally like 2. I don't see them any one else I could grab and look at.

So should I mention it to the woman I got her from? She's a breeder and I know she's selling birds.

I don't blame her in any way! It was more so she could check her birds out just in case.
I hesitate cause I don't won't her to think I'm blaming her, or think I'm a dirty chicken keeper who brought bugs to her flock.

I could be over thinking this....

I know that if I were her, I'd want to know, especially since you aren't blaming her.

I'm quite new to chickens - we've only had them a few months - but it seems like stuff like that isn't all that uncommon unless you keep your poultry completely quarantined from any contact with wild birds (which would be pretty hard to do) and that you just have to keep a look out for it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, learning how to properly take care of our little sweeties is why we are all here after all.

Mites and lice are just one of those things. Kind of like kids and lice. Odds are at one point they'll get picked up.
She could have gotten them at my place as I don't see any debris on her just crawlies. I don't see any on the others but they are much harder to catch in the day. LOL
Thanks for the thoughts.
