OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I had to drive the bus this morning and it was 6 below. My development is one lane and people do not get over for the bus. I kept it on the road but it was nice to be able to check out the roads and not have to worry about having the kids with me if I would have gotten stranded. We go back Monday for sure. I got recognized today for my 40 years of service to our school district. They gave me flowers and a 40 dollar gift card to a local coffee shop. I also got a standing ovation from the entire school district. I was shocked and tearful as I am not good at these things in front of crowds but I survived. It was nice of them to appreciate me.
That's wonderful! Congrats on all your time there!

There hasn't been much activity on this thread lately. I hope my fellow Ohioans are doing well!

Idk about you guys but my hens have really picked up their laying! Out of 7 hens, 6 had already laid eggs today and I thought I saw the 7th in the box before I left.

I am bummed but we can't get any chicks this year - even our meatbirds. We are having major landscaping work done on our backyard to try to help deal with the drainage issues we get. When it rains hard, it turns into a lake and we get basement leaks. Maybe we can get chicks in the fall!

Who purchased or hatched chicks so far? Please feel free to brag. I'd love to hear about them or see pictures!

Long time no see! Sorry to hear about the drainage issues you're going through, but hope the landscaping will help alleviate the issue.

As for the egg laying, ours have picked up over the past few weeks. We are now getting about a dozen eggs a day, and it should increase as the days get longer. Will plan on doing a few batches of eggs in the incubator as spring arrives..you're welcome to a couple when you can accommodate them.

Did anyone feel, hear, or see the meteor that flew past us this morning? Around 9:00 I guess it was. I didn't hear or feel anything, I was at work. Quite a few of my family members did and said it was really loud. Channel 19 in Cleveland has good footage of it

Yeah, I ran to the front door to see if something had happened at the construction site across the road. The bang rattled the entire house and I had assumed that they were using explosives to clear an area out. Apparently, it was a sonic boom from a meteor.

That's so nice of you! I'll keep that in mind after we have the work done. I'm sorry I won't be able to get you your broiler! I think we'll be doing a batch in the fall though. Good luck with your hatch!

Is Ursula broody yet?

Yes! I was feeding my baby in her room and I heard a big boom. I thought a big branch fell of the oak tree and onto our house because it was so loud. I went out and checked and didn't see anything. Later I learned what it really was! It's crazy that it was so loud I thought something hit the house.

That's not an issue, in regards to the broilers, we can discuss when the opportunity arises.

Ursula hasn't gone broody on me yet, but that doesn't matter to me since she still hops onto my arm when I ask her to. I've got several other hens that have gone broody, though.
