I have Lav silkies for sale in the sale area. look for me tomorrow sale cage under the name Miskimon Good luck in your search.

I was looking at yours this morning I think, but didn't see anyone near:( My daughter wanted a silkie

Me and my daughter left at 4:30 am yesterday and got there about 8 am. Tons of people, we left about noon and their were double the people! Before seeing the post from Brody's Broodello about the Lav Silkies, I ended up finding the sale cage. She wasn't there, but her number was written on there so I called her. She came right over and I bought 2 Lav Silkies from her about 3 months old. She was very nice and told me about her Lavs and Porcelains. She was the only one I saw that had them (besides the ones that were in the show). I also ran into Brenda from Bren's Birds of Paradise and she was a wonderful lady! I talked to her for a little bit about her Silkies. They are more beautiful in person! She had 26 of them there!!!!! I was so excited to meet her. My daughter thinks I'm insane lol. I also bought a White Silkie cockerel about 6 months old I believe, but for the life of me I can't remember her name!! If anybody knows her, I want to write her name down for future reference. She was in the last isle by the wall (but not against the isle, at the end of the row(next to last) and the isle by the door. Next to her was her friend who had about 5-6 beautiful Silkie pullets for $65 each. I'd love to get her name! She got the cockerel from "Patterson's" line...whoever that is lol. I tried to buy a pair of White Silkies from him first but I couldn't get ahold of him after several failed attempts on the phone

We wen't outside to take my other Silkies out and I came back in and they were gone.....then he called me

I was bummed! But anyhow, the cockerel I got was as nice as him and I'm very happy with him. But anyhow I wish I could remember her name. My prego butt was so tired I couldn't think straight lol. Here's some pics of the White Silkie and 2 Lav Silkies. The 1st 4 pics are of the smaller Lav and the next 4 are of the bigger one. Believe both are pullets she said? What do you think?

I also bought a blue silkie cockerel and a blue partridge silkie pullet from Brody's broodello. My very first silkies, super nice lady, great meeting her and the birds are beautiful! I also managed to come away with 3 partridge silkie chicks from Jennifer Jewel, and a quad of light Brahma bantams from Brian Knox. It was a great trip! I haven't been to the OH National in several years and I love the chaos, the mad dash thru the sale area to get the choice birds, the shopping, meeting people, just the entire experience

Had a great time Saturday and saw several BYC friends. I'm proud of myself for only bringing home a pre-arranged sale of call ducks from Foley's Waterfowl. There were plenty of birds for sale and breeders to meet, but I just wasn't tempted like I was last year (my first year).

I came home and looked at a couple of my hens and kicked myself for not showing this year. Next year I will.

Where can I find more information about showing? My daughter would like to maybe next year, but I'm completely clueless about any of it. This was our first time at a show lol

We had an awesome time!

This was the first time I'd been to Ohio. Sooooo much to see. The sale area was nuts!

I left my Polish at home but I took along 5 young Dutch to show (it was the eastern Dutch National). I was happy with how well they did. They placed:

Cream Light Brown pullet: 1st, Reserve Variety
Cream Light Brown pullet: 4th
Light Brown cockeral: 4th
Blue Light Brown pullet: 2nd
Blue Light Brown cockeral: 1st

My goal was to not come home with any extra birds, but I couldn't resist a pair of absolutely adorable Butterscotch Calls from Darrel Sheraw. I have a real weakness for Call ducks, and I had been dying for a nice pair of Pastels or Butterscotch, so I caved. Before I ended up buying the Butterscotch pair, I had put tickets in a raffle for another pair of Calls. Well, ended up I won those, too.

They are an absolutely beautiful pair of Blue Fawn Pied Calls. Not a standard color, but they are stunning. So I came home with 4 ducks! Not too bad, right?

I had a great time hanging out & talking with everyone. Can't wait 'till the next show! Has anyone started a thread for the NE Poultry Congress yet? I'd really like to get to that one, if I can. Sounds like a nice show.

HI...i didnt get a chance to meet my fellow BYC ers as my son was in the showmanship he is 10 and used his Buff pullet Princess...they got called back and were in the top 5 but unfortunately the judge was asking each child what the breed of the bird next to them was there were 4 recognizable breeds as in silkies , polish, leghorn and then a serama so guess what he got...the serama...so he finished out of the prizes but we were very proud of him for being in the top five.. he did win the weekend before at the IL/MO show in the 10 to 16 age group.....at the Nationals we were there at 6:45 blow drying birds ...thanks goodness i brought the dryer as a call duck soaked one of the girls she was a mess....he ended up taking BV with his buff pullet in the JR show we were tickled ...he also showed his little nankins but was the only one with them but he has 5 and the one pullet won BB so he got a ribbon....we bought a ton of birds as we had some preordered for PU...came home with a Splash cock, a blue cockerel and a white cockerel from Beardsleys of seriously silkies...we were very excited about the white boy as he won Res Featherleg and BB Jr silkie at the IL/MO show the weekend before....then Connie of Premiere brought us a beautiful white pullet and cockerel and a blue hen and a black pullet...all of these birds from Beardsleys and Premier were bathed and just beautiful...we got a couple of cute white girls from Jennifer a fellow BYC and a blue pullet from another fellow...then a breeding pair of gorgeous black LF Ameracunas...and then my son bought a Mille Fleur Duccle hen for his Mr McClucky rooster at home we have no idea what he is as he was in a box of nankin chicks...he was the happiest rooster yesterday when we put them together so no more Romeo without his Juliet...the show was spectacular and a lot of work but oh so much fun....next year there will be an even bigger show in Indiana end of October they are combining the two poultry groups ABA and APA for one big show so if you can book that off do so because it will be at least 4000 more show birds...i cant imagine but cant wait.. Mike Beardsley won BB with his white silkie hen in the Jr show and she went RES Champ Featherleg there were over 800 featherleg birds this year in the JR show the open was 300 so it was quite a win.....happy chicking...chikincrazee:D
