OHMYGOSH I just walked in on Hamlet (My roo) and Parndora (One of my SS hens) doing the unspeakable act and I was wondering how long until I should expect an egg? I'm not sure how long they've been squatting, but this is the first time they've let him do this.

I think my flock started laying little pullet eggs before they started cooperating with the roos [IMG]

You already know that you do not need a rooster for your hens to lay an egg? Hens lay eggs with or without a rooster.

Quote:Oh yes, I knew that. I just thought that since they had been squatting but not letting him on, but are now squatting and letting him on, that that meant they were closer. Meant that they were ready to lay the egg. Obviously they would be with or without him, but since we have a roo we got to see that change in their thinking.
