Ok 1st attempt to incubate failed

Ok the homemade Bator i made sucks had to trash my eggs that I've had in the Bator for 3 days, i want to get this right & quick please can anyone help me please.

Why did you throw them after only 3 days? Eggs won't be visibly developing until 5-6 days of age. Unless they were cracked, there was some chance they were developing, even if there were temperature/humidity fluctuations during that time.

Do you have any pictures of the incubator? What materials did you use to make it?

Do not be too fast in writing off your homemade incubator as worthless; boughten does not necessarily mean better. Does it keep a constant temperature and humidity? If not, maybe the problem can be fixed. Why would you trash eggs after only three days of incubation? A that point of incubation I would not trust any candling procedure to determine viability. I always wait at least five days; longer if the shells are dark pigmented.

I woke up this morning & the temp was 106 & humidity was at 25 i dk how long it was at 106 i checked it just be for midnight & it was 96 temp humidity was 43. Out of all the research i did they all said dont let it go over 101 so not knowing how long it sat at 106 i just decided to toss them in using my own eggs not ordered or ones that you buy. I so wish someone could come show me how to set this up i learn alot better that way.

Well those are pretty extreme fluctuations. I agree that 106 probably killed them, although I'm not sure they would even have been developing at only 96 original degrees. 99.5 is the correct temperature.

It sounds like the incubator has some design flaws. What materials did you use to make it? Have you considered simply buying one if this one continues to malfunction?

Its a short plastic tub i think the problem was that I decided to switch light bulbs last night to try to get the temp up from 96 to 101 but the bulb started to melt the lid so I cut a hole 1" squared over the top of the bulb i had water in there too so I dk why the humidity dropped that much that was really the only hole opened besides 2 small ones

I send some pics but I couldn't get any to download yesterday so unless I could text you pics i dont really know how to explain my set up if that's ok I could put my number on here so you could send me yours I'm just getting frustrated i knew the first attempt would be a long shot in the dark but didn't expect it ending this quick
