Put a 6" board or something across the threashold to keep the shavings from spilling out. Sounds like you've got everything else covered!

I use kitty litter pails empty of course LOL
for nest boxes .easier to clean out.
milk crates
had to many crevices to hold muck I tryed it.
a 2in ridge thats in front of the pails under the handle
keeps the eggs from rolling out on the floor.
I hung them on the wall about 3inches off the floor.
screws to lift on and off
for cleaning. when needed.
