I have Easter Eggers don't I? Well, we bought them from TSC--they are our first chicks, so it's no big deal, not into showing, just want eggs. But I was hoping I could get some idea what color they will be when grown? However, now that I feel they aren't Ameraucanas, I will have no idea until they are grown. Anyway, if the BYC folks could give me a clue on breed and color--that would be awesome!

Sorry I can't help with breed id, but wanted to tell you how cute they are. Look like they have that mischievious glint in their lil' eyes, too!

Oh, well thank you!! Actually the one in the last picture (4 chicks), in the lower left corner, he we are calling Singular Joter, because he has such a personality already. He (I'm guessing its a 'he') goes off on his own to eat, drink or sleep--definitely a leader.

Sorry to say it, but all of those chicks are easter eggers. That is not a bad thing though.. our laying flock is mostly easter eggers and they give us brown, sea green, olive green, blue, biege, and white eggs so you could possibly end up with an assorted egg basket.

i went to tsc's web and copyed the chicks they had that looked like yours. i cant decide but here are some possible breeds. maybe someone can help by looking at the pics.

silcilian buttercup:

buff brahma:

ameraucana:

brown leghorn:

Yeah, they look like Easter Eggers to me. EEs are great chickens. You will enjoy your new family.

Did you get all of them from a bin marked "Ameraucana" (or some mis-spelling of that?) If so, then yes, they're all EEs. If you got them from a mixed pullet bin, then they could be any of a number of things and you'd have to take individual photos showing leg color and comb to get good guesses.

EEs are always a surprise at what they look like grown. I have a one that I hatched from my own EEs 2 weeks ago that look like yours in the first picture that have the freckle faces - only her whole face is like a leopard. I call her Speck. I can't wait to see what she looks like when she grows up. My rooster is an EE and absolutely gorgeous - EEs make the most beautiful roosters you can imagine. The grown up girls give me very lovely blue eggs and are very pretty with their beards and muffs. You will have lovely girls and very colorful egg cartons when they start laying!
