Ok first batch hatched

We got 6 chicks out of 12 eggs. Not bad for first timers.

this is Little Bug our favorite.

Can anyone tell me how to sex Barred Rocks?

See the dots on their heads, the big wide ones(mottled pattern are roos and the little dots are hens......or it could be the other way around, I cannot remember.... Someone else expand on this please.... I just know anyway it has to do with the dots on their heads. Not sure which is which.

Some things I've read...a small distinct dot = hen and a very large or even 2 overlapping dots = roo. Also, re down color - very black = hen and more silvery/frosty color = roo. Finally, very dark color on front of legs = hen and little or no color on front of legs = roo.
