How can I tell if my egg has internally pipped? When I opened up to mist, I held the flashlight and saw the air pocket... and it got bigger since yesterday. On the bottom it kind of looks like its peeling off the egg but I don't see any beak. Its day 25 for that one. Does anyone have a picture of an egg being candled that shows an internal pip... or know where one is located online so I can take a look. I thought I heard a faint cheep and I definitely see lots of wiggles. I'm just not certain on the cheep because I have 3 poults in my living room and 49 chicken on my porch.... LOL

If the baby has pipped internally, the air cell will be mostly full with baby! At first, all you'll be able to see is the beak/bill moving inside the air cell, but it won't be a nice, even, flat surface inside there anymore, there will be a little peeper moving his mouth in there!

But with goose eggs, it's best to not handle them when you have them set to hatch. Turning them can cause the baby to get twisted/turned around in the egg, resulting in a failed hatch

I can often see a tiny shaddow of the beak when I get dates wrong or when they pip early before lockdown. But it can be in different places around the air cell. What you described about it looking like the membrane was peeling of the egg- that is the gosling inside bulging into the aircell. thats a good sign they are about to hatch too. BUt i agree with friend2fowl- Better to leave them be and let them do their thing..you will know soon enough when they have pipped when they break through a first crack in the shell.

I haven't been holding them. I just shine the light on the big end when I have to open it up to spray them down or increase humidity. The eggs are moving but I don't think there has been an internal pip yet, unless it happened since the last time I checked it, day before yesterday I think.

Sometimes it sounds like I hear scratching sounds from the incubator. Not sure what that means. I hear it and the eggs rock around. Who know? Party in my bator!

I think I have an internal pip... Here is what I see...

When I hold the light to the big side, I find that the air cell looks bigger... but instead of round/oval it looks more like a heart-shaped aircell with a definite "pinch". Looking down on it, I couldn't see any movement but when I lowered my head to under the light I could see a little beak and head looking shadow moving around. The egg was also shaking some. Its like the head is sitting on the bottom of the egg, in the air cell. This morning, I couldn't see it. Since I'm having problems keeping the humidity up today I have been spraying them a little more frequently and decided to sneak a peek! The little head and beak look like they are in the area where the membrane was peeling off before.
