My Step-Grandpa just got me a brand new coop last Friday. Anyway, I'm going to have Bantam Cochins, a few Standard Cochins and some Bantam Phoenixs. Maybe even some Standard Phoenixs. Not sure. Anway I would like to make this into 2 sections. Maybe 3. One for the Bantam Cochins. One for the Standard Cochins. And one for the Bantam&Standard Phoenixs. But I might just combine the Bantam&Standard cochins in one pen. Not sure. That is if all goes well. Anway I was wondering if I didn't have 2-3 different pens how many Bantam&Standard birds could fit in an 8 X 12 coop?? Thanks for your help. Cole. :)

Excellent question but not for the breeds forum. Also, not trying to be mean, but you are using the word 'standard' wrong. I am quite sure you mean large fowl and that IS the correct term!

WOW! I had no idea I posted it there. Sorry.

Someone please move it for me. And yes I mean Large Fowl. LOL

4 square feet per LF and 2 square feet per bantam. I believe both are 10 square feet for outside runs.

So all large fowl would be 24 birds. All bantam would be 48 birds. With a mix of both, you'll be somewhere in between.
