Ok i have had it why are my ameraucanas not laying!?!?!?

I have 3 (out of 4) that started laying at 23 weeks. That is considered early for Ameraucanas. 1 out of 5 EEs laying at the same age. Still waiting for the rest.

My chickens were born in March. The RIR started laying last month, the Maran/Ameracauna cross laid her first egg today, and the Ameracaunas still haven't laid and they are coming up on 8 months old! Be patient, it will happen.

I never had a chicken not start between 20 & 22 weeks, even Easter Eggers. Usually they are 20 weeks + a day or so. Each flock has been like clock work all these years.

I have 5 EEs that are 24wks old and only 1 of them is laying. Most of the other breeds I got at the same time are laying. I had an EE that didn't lay until she was 9 mo old - so you can never tell. They seem to lay on their own time schedule.

Right before they begin to lay the 2 bones forward of the vent begin to spread from less than a fingers' width to 2 fingers width. The combs will swell and get more red color also. If these things are not happening it is too soon for your strain.

I have EEs just turned 23 and still not laying. One of them just started squatting a few days ago so she might start within the next week. The other is a slacker. I also have a Welsummer who is 24 weeks and not laying yet. I think she laid one soft shelled egg and then quit trying. I think this is normal and they will probably get around to it some time this month. Meanwhile, I have my PR and BR girls. They've been like little egg factories starting at 18 weeks old. They don't always lay in the box though. These girls are on the move. I caught an egg rolling down the hill today and found another on the gravel path. Thank goodness for oyster shells and BOSS.

My cochin bantam started to lay around at about 5.5 months, my jersey giant around 6, and still waiting for my plymouth rock:/
