OK I have had it with the neighbors dog

Here's what I'd do, and not everyone will agree. I'd take the dog into my home and keep him there for a few days. If the neighbor is not willing to keep him away after a serious talk I'd then take him to a shelter where he will have to pay to get him back. I'd hate to kill a dog, but I could be pushed that far depending on the dog. Here, a chicken killer can be killed on sight.

We have two pit bulls nearby who used to come to our place when they were puppies. It's been okay recently, but there comes a point...

The bb gun suggestion can work. So can a .22 loaded with birdshot. I've wacked a few neighborhood dogs in the butt with a marble fired out of a sling shot. The slingshot even works on stray cows.

These won't do any serious damage unless you hit an eye, but sting like all heck. They tend to not come back.

Good luck, and sorry to hear about your situation. It's an unfair place for you to be--if an owner can't take care of his dog, he should at least take care of it himself. If all else fails, I'd consider you justified putting the dog out of its (and your) misery. It sounds to me like a good, clean shot might be an act of mercy to this dog.

Ok, which one are YOU going to shoot? ginbarts or morelcabin's neighbors dog?

morelcabin's, but I see his predicament. Maybe he should take it to the pound. If my dog is messing about killing people's livestock, I would be okay with him being shot. I wouldn't want to foist the responsibilty off on someone else though. I got the impression that your dog that bites because he's afraid was making good progress. Did I read you wrong?

edited for spelling.

Yes she is making progress. Thanks for asking. I had her out the other day and someone stopped to look at a camper we have for sale. She saw them and started going but I did my comand I was told to do and she stopped. I almost cried. OK I did.

You know, I think my son in law trained me, not the dog.
