OK I have had it with the neighbors dog

First thing to do is call the local animal control authorities. They can give yuou some guidance.

We had the same problem and after I called animal control, they told me they would contact the owner the first time and if I caught the dog on my place after that , I could restrain it and call them to pick it up. They also told me if I caught it harassing my livestock, I could just shoot it.

When I was growing up, my dad used to shoot loose dogs with my BB gun. It didn't cause any serious harm (other than a welt on the backside) and they didn't usually make a trip back to our yard.

Maybe you should tally up how much $$$ he would be responsible for if his dog should kill any chickens and / or damage your coop. If he cares so little for his dog, you might be able to convince him to find another owner who wants it.​

Well I went over and had a talk with him. Thing is he doesn't want to tie her up because he doesn't want to have her going to the bathroom in the yard...right now she goes in the bush. Anyway I told him that I was not going to be patient about it anymore. He told me to go ahead and do whatever I want with her when she comes into my yard again....shoot her, give her away, bring her to the pound. Well now he has given me the responsibility to do something about her. Not quite what I wanted, but something has to be done:/

Well he has alot on his plate right now...serious health problems, and alot more. Pretty discouraged actually...and I understand all that, but I simply have to do something about the dog. If you knew him you would like him...honestly

Well I need to tell my story from the other side. I have a dog. She is the sweetest thing in my house but, If I would let her outside and a stranger would come up she would bite them. If someone came in my home and we were not here she would bite. She is part Rottie and Pit. If she would ever leave my land and go to the neighbors and bite some one I would not say a thing about anyone putting her down. I love her greatly she is great with my son. She would protect him to the end. We can not get this out of her, she bites from fear and we can not change that. BUT off my land she's out of control and I myself would be afraid of what she would do. I would not want anyone to get hurt. Our one neighbors little girl comes over and plays with my son. The dog is protective of her. Her dad came to get her and took her hand and my dog must have thought he was going to hurt her she would have bit him if I wouldn't have grabbed her. If a dog comes on my land after my son or chickens they will be gone. Just as it should me with my dog. My gun is always ready.
