OK I have new questions - candling questions please help

Yeah, wait and candle as opening eggs won't tell you much at this stage without a microscope to really see if it is alive.. and at that, you'd probably kill it before getting it out on a dissection plate.

If you open an egg, you can see a embryo with the naked eye at about 50 hours. However, it takes a bit of experience to do it right... took me a few dozen eggs to get the technique down.

I have been so paranoid about things going wrong - that the one time we leave the house for a few hours - I have a temp spike

I have been keeping the temps at around 99.5 - 101. so I thought - cool 3 days down so far so good and now I am going to be sitting and wondering for the next few days if I am going to have babies are not. I dont see how people can do this without going crazy LOL

boy I am so thankful you all were able to get back to me so fast and give me some hope that I might still have some babies.

Even if you can't tell from candeling, I still would not want to break one open... it will be a goner for sure then... and you can't tell from just one... the one you open may be the only one that could have hatched or it may be no good and you throw all of them out when there were some good ones left. I would not even candle because of bringing them out into the room temp air for that period of time... I would leave them put until the time is up, wait it out.

That is a huge jump. Did you have the temp stable for at least 12 hours prior to setting eggs. If you did, I would wonder if the wafer in your incubator is working properly. Have you had any power surges due to storms at your house.

I always keep my incubators plugged into a surge protector.

All you can do is what has suggested been suggested. Candle at around 7 days. You will be able to see development of the chick by then. If you cooked them they will not develop further and you should not see anything at 7 days.

Before I set the eggs I had the bator running for about 3 days playing with the temp to get it set and when I put the eggs in the temps were holding fine - only minor adjustments here and there -
and since the spike the temps have been holding fine in the morning it is a little low but it warms up. the lowest the temps read in the morning is around 93.0
I am crossing my fingers and

thank you all for the advice I think I will try and candle on day 7 and if I cant tell I will put them back in for another few days and try to candle again later.
and if they are goners I will try to put some chicken eggs in there and try again

I never had much luck with my LG....that's why I switched to the hovabators with electronic thermostat. I try not to use the LG as even as a hatcher anymore....although sometimes I still have to. I'd think I had the temps stable and then they'd spike or drop......just got tired of messing with it. I hope you find good veining when you candle.

OK I could not wait any longer and I went ahead and candled tonight ( day 6 ) and of the 5 eggs I saw nice red veins in 3 of them and a big blood ring in 2.
Should I remove the ones with the ring ? the ones with the veins I only saw veins on one side is that normal - sorry I have no idea this is all new to me. the temps have been reading fine and I have been turning 3 times a day and misting the eggs once a day

For the day of incubation those 3 eggs are doing just fine! If you for SURE see a blood ring go ahead and remove those eggs.

it is a pretty noticable ring - cant miss it , and the ones with the veins are to cool looking the veins are so clear and easy to see and such a nice red color - this is just to cool - I never thought I could do anything like this. It is going to make the next 22 days very looooong waiting for these babies to come out
