I had plenty of nice people helping me when I first got started, so I'm happy to help out others that are in the same position I was in back when I first started out

Just came home from my son's baseball practice to two pips. I hope they are ok because the pips look different from what I'm used to seeing with chicken eggs. They are rather large pips like a large flake. Maybe I'll have a few keets shortly:) RH dropped to 69% but seems to be holding.

That sounds normal, Guinea egg shells are lots thicker than chicken egg shells and pretty large pieces always come off as mine zip around the top of the shell. If you want more humidity you can add a wet sponge to the incubator, a little higher humidity will help them hatch easier (I usually have mine up around 75%-80%). Looks like the when to lockdown guess worked out perfectly! Crossin' my fingers for a successful hatch for you

Forgot to add that you will want to remove at least 1 of the red plugs to give the hatching keets some fresh air, which will cause the RH to drop a little, so adding the wet sponge will help counter act the drop. I usually remove both red plugs after all keets have hatched and are drying off.

Can I open the bator with the two eggs already started? I thought that would shrink wrap them or something?? Thanks.

Yah, go ahead, quickly opening it to add more moisture won't hurt the eggs. I open mine often and give them a quick squirt with a fine spray mister bottle. My hatches are always good, never any shrink wrapped keets.

Well, I woke up this morning sure that I would find some keets but I was disapointed. I have several more pips, but no babies yet. Starting to get a little concerned. How long does it take them to zip?

Sometimes my eggs sit there for 2 days with just a small pip, so don't worry yet. Do you hear any keets peeping from inside the hatcher? Since you have more pips I bet by tomorrow you'll have a bunch hatching. Mine usually hatch in the AMs, I think the morning daylight stimulates them more so than the time does (that's JMO tho!). I usually always set them at night, about bedtime, so that may have something to do with my standard hatch time too. As long as your temp and humidity are good, you have nothing to worry about yet. The air cells were slanted and you saw internal pipping, so everything sounds like it's going fine... you just have to wait it out lol. I feel your pain tho, I'm not a very patient person and waiting isn't some of my favorite things to do either, lol.

That's fabulous Kyle, glad you're hatch is happening for ya finally!!! What colors?? I wanna see I wanna see!! I feel like the keet/guinea midwife over here, lmao, let me see!!!

There are 4 out so far. I'm no color expert, but I think she was a little unfaithful maybe. Out of the four, two look alike. Pearl I think. One looks like those two on the top, but light or white underneath. The other has the stripes down the head like the rest, but it's a real light grey. My 3 males are pearl, lavendar, and I think coral.. The hen is pied. I will post pics of the babies as soon as they are dry and picture worthy lol. This really shouldn't be this fun for me, but I can't help it.
