OK, my DH is going to kill me b/c I can't get off BYC!!!!!!!!!

My DH is always on his Ah-Ha fan club chat and forum email list etc.... for HOURS.

And he give ME a hard time about my time on BYC??

I ask you...which is more a waste of time??? CHICKENs or a Norwegian Pop group from the 80s??

At least my chickens will produce SOMETHING useful...eventually!

Ok, you guys are cracking me up. Did you say Ah-ha?????
He has NO room to talk!

And my freinds are always laughing at me. I NEVER spend a night without at least one chicken in my living room. They ask me how, which brings me to chicken diapers, and that's around the point where they lose it:-( Have they NEVER hung out with chickens?????
If they had they would know:
-chickens are great
-their eggs are awesome
-they are hilarious and much more fun to watch than fish, which EVERYONE has in their living room!!
-not to wear earings when hugging them
-that they coo at you
-and they always love what you feed them!

Yes it was soooo addictive that once my first batch of chicks were 6 weeks old last month, I had to ban myself from the site for a couple of weeks. I wasn't getting anything done at work.

OK, and...I have 14 eggs in the bator and it's only day three and a half. So all I can do is chat on here and obsess about my eggs?!?!?!?!?!?
Just in case you are wondering:
6 blue silkies
8 red sex links 2nd generation

I am forcing myself to wait until Friday to candle them and I am literally going to implode. I am not the most patient person ever;)

Also, most of the time I can get my work done by the time my DH gets home. But I haven't done thta yet in two weeks. I have gotten the schooling over with for my kids but I have 3 loads of laundry to put up and two toilets to scrub:( I haven't done any school today but that's b/c my daughter has the same problem that I do, she won't clean her room!!!!!!

Oh yeah, I said Ah-Ha... you know the 'take on me' people. I like their music (wouldn't admit that to DH, just like he won't admit he likes the chickens) BUT I just don't get the fan club thing.

He is forever jetting off somewhere in the world for a concert since they have only played here like one time in the past forever since the 80s. They even have an annual fan club meeting somewhere in the US. Yes...I have gone....dragged to more than one....No, I don't really need to go again, ever....might as well save the air fare....no, honey, really - go and have a good time without me...

So, if he can spend $1000s on his Ah-ha hobby, I can spend a few $100 of MY hard earned money on my chickens.

Still cheaper than taking up golf...

AND we'll get eggs....eventually!

When I'm not here, I'm reading a chicken book. I moderate another forum and I've not done a very good job since I found this one.

My McMurray Hatchery catalog looks like a Toy R Us catalog around a bunch of little kids right before Christmas. My DH just rolls his eyes.

OK~ I too am an addict. My DH rolls his eyes when he sees what I'm doing.

But I guess I'm lucky. He doesn't nag at me any more for BYC than he does for reading a book late at night...

My friends don't laugh at me because chickens are the least weird of things I've ever done...

And I don't get mocked for being on a chicken forum because thos who DON'T know about chickens are so impressed with my knowledge and the resourcefulness of finding that such a site exists...

And I'm lucky because DH is a neatness freak and does the bulk of the laundry

He might be less supportive if he knew ya'll knew about the BO's preferring his back-rubs to our banty roosters attempts...

And the 'bator I asked for for Christmas...

And the fact that we WILL be having chicks in the spring...

So I count my blessing and keep my mouth shut

Oh, I have this problem too. This morning, I was trying to pull myself away from all things chicken so I could get to work on time, and I was thinking about how glad I will be to have the day off from work on Thanksgiving.

Not so much so I can commune with friends and family - more because I realized I'm not cooking this year, and I'll have the morning off to sit in my PJ's and read the chicken forum!

Is that pathetic?

No, because that's what I think whenever DH runs to Home Depot to get supplies; It's better when there's no witnesses to try and make you feel guilty!
