ok to eat?

So I went out this morning and found my female duck pretty beaten up: bloody head and back of the nect, blood between her shoulder blades with feathers missing.
Pretty sure the culprit was sex by goose :(
I think I'm going to cull her. I have seen the goose on her before and have no reason to think he won't do it again.
As long as I skin her, is she ok to eat? Would you eat the duck?

Why would you not? What am I overlooking?

Plus, I think op is needing facts as to wether or not it would be safe to eat.
Not personal opinion. J/s

Only reason I wouldn't is if I didn't know for sure what caused the damage. I had a bird tore up by a fox last summer, I tossed it. I believe in waste not want not and have picked up more than one fresh road killed deer, turkey, pheasant, in my lifetime. To each their own but I have a fear of rabies/distemper/leptospirosis/tularemia etc...
IMHO I just wouldn't take a chance if I didn't witness, or was pretty darn sure what caused the injury/death and when it occurred.
A 'unknown or unknown for sure' may be perfectly fine, I would just be thinking while eating and after of all the bad things that may happen, guess I'm a hypochondriac Lol!

I'd figure so just because a high temperature kills everything, bacteria and virus alike. But it may be like botulinum or the bacteria that spoils milk (Pseudomonas?), the bacteria is dead but the substance they produce that can cause illness is still present. Although most of the ones who mentioned were viruses, so I suppose it could work, good luck getting someone to test it for you though!:gig

I would say with Chicken, it probably would, chicken is cooked a lot more "done" than beef typically is, so more chance of killing everything on/in it.
Did you know that you can now serve pork a little pink too? :sick

But my issue with thinking all things are killed by heat is how many things live near super heated vents on the ocean floor and that type of thing. Sometimes I wish my brain would just kaawit it with the random thought that I will likely never face. :hmm
