OK to feed layer?

I typically wouldn't bother to feed layer to my birds but feed is getting expensive and layer is the only thing my local feed store carries that isn't medicated. Otherwise, I go to TSC and now Flock Raiser is $19 for 50 lbs. I can get 50 lbs of layer for $12 at the local store.
I have all of my birds together, goslings, ducks, chickens. The goslings are the youngest 9-11 weeks everyone else is old enough for layer. I know that is young to feed layer to them and I know that you should start feeding it just before laying season.

My question, would it be terrible to feed layer to this young of a bird? Opinions, experience please.

Since they are all together- honestly I would stick to the Flock Raiser. When it's time to cut back on protein (FR is high in protein)- you can start cutting in other grains...like rolled oats or split oats (from the feed store) and offer other grains. That is what I was doing before I went to Mazuri for my ducks/geese. They ate it fine. This WILL not only help you cut down on cost, but reduce their protein intake (which is good if they aren't babies anymore) and add variety to their diet. :)

Thanks. I am already adding grains etc to their feed. They are able to graze as much as they want (we've been lucky with rain) but they take a break midday. I just wanted to see if I would be able to save a bit on feed by switching them.

since geese are seasonal layers they dont need the layer feed during off season. a month before they start to lay and while laying is good. flock raiser and or all flock are good options and there is no reason to worry about non medicated. I know people yell dont feed waterfowl medicated feed, but it is something they repeat not research. Old feeds (many many many years past) that were medicated were not good for waterfowl. The new feed blends are OK.

I get my layer from a feed mill and all my fowl except the young ones get it. My ducks...well the non ornamental type are penned but the reg ducks..geese..Egyptian geese...Canadian....Cranes...turkey..are all frweerange so they get other things too.
