I am new to geese.. Is it ok to house them with our chickens? I was thinking of asking DH to add a little house on the end of our chickens coop for my two geese. What would be the best route?

No. I would not house them together. You will have some chicken fatalities due to the geese if you do that. Some will say it's fine to house them together, but my personal experience has been that geese are very aggressive towards smaller birds.

I think it depends on their age. I had baby chicks (8) and goslings (2) and they have done great so far, it has been about 4 weeks that they have lived together. One of the goslings pulls the tail feathers out of one of the chickens, who now looks like a guinea, but.... I don't know how it will be when they get older, just keeping an eye on them all. jennifer

I had 2 that were brooded and raised with chickens, and they were fine. It just depends on the birds. If your coop and or run are small, you could definitely have some problems with younger birds once the geese get big. I freerange mine.... so they mostly just go in to sleep.

I kept ducks in with my chickens and they were fine- but they made a huge mess of the coop. The chickens were free-range and I'd put the ducks in a pen with a pool during the day. We ended up giving them to a neighbor with a big pond (and girl ducks). I'm getting baby toulouse tomorrow- hopefully to be mothered by a broody cochin for a while. We shall see!

I have my geese, ducks and chickens all in the same coop/run. The ducks & chicken have been together since they were shipped from the hatchery. The sebbie geese were added with them when they all were old enough to move into the coop. I've had no fatalities from the geese, the chickens see them as the leaders and when they free range and the geese go running to the coop, the chickens & ducks are close behind!

If I had to introduce new chickens to the coop, I would not start with anything too small for fear more from the chickens than my geese or ducks!
