Hm. Well now I’m curious, these are both “purebred” BR, and the farm I got them from doesn’t even have marans (of any type lol). But after googling she does look very similar. I wonder if the farm has a CM and thinks it’s a BR?? I mean, there’s no way 2 BR’s could make a CM, right??

That could also explain why she’s so far ahead of the other one, I’ve read CM are much quicker to feather than BR.

Tons of people don't know the difference. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Gosh those feet and legs do look white. Soles tell the truth though. Just watch them if they stay yellow or become more yellow - she's a BR. If they stay pink she's a CM.

So I think y’all were right about Mama being a CM. Newest pic, and with natural lighting I do think her soles are a bit on the whitish pink side now. When I was looking before we were inside so I think that may have made them look more yellow. Also now in comparison, I feel I can really see a difference in the barring between them, especially near the ends of their wings. Pepper’s look like actual stripes from top to bottom, whereas Mama’s looks more like alternating stripes, kind of like a checkered pattern if that makes sense. What do you think??
