I found a trap on the home depot website made for catching cats, but it's about $60. We'll see if we can get it, if not the jet hose will have to do for now.

Check local laws on protecting livestock. If the cat is on your property it can be considered a threat to your livestock and legally shot, if your laws allow for protection of livestock.

Have you asked animal control if you may barrow a cat trap and bring the cat in when you catch it? If you're lucky you won't have to spend money on a trap

The reason the person was watching through the window is probably because they want to get proof that you (or any of your family members) abuse their cat. If they had a camera recording and your mother threw the rock at the cat, they may be able to get you into BIG trouble wether it's fair or not. Be careful to not do anything that could be considered abusive espcially where anyone can see it.

I have 4 dachshunds and a mutt. The mutt sees a cat, perks his ears up, then walks away. My dachshund Angel would for sure chase a cat, but in no way would I ever put her anywhere near the chickens or ducks. Also if I let her chase the cat outside of the yards, as in the driveway or where the palm trees are, the cat would most likely flee off of the property and Angel would continue chase. I would be at fault because Angel would be off of our property and probably on someone else's trying to mangle a cat.
The mutt was actually supposed to be our chicken guard dog. I left him at night with the silkies when they were young and he almost killed the ducks. It was my fault, he wasn't raised with ducks and he is part labrador. Since then I haven't trusted him with either duck or chicken. I can only train dogs to sit though.

I told my mother that and she said she doesn't care. She's really POed at them today. They let some huge brown dog loose and it took a big poop on our driveway and was terrorizing the chickens. Are they training their animals to this stuff?

I think they'll only be a problem for a little longer though. Yesterday cops searched all of their cars, a fire truck came, and an ambulance came and went. Not sure what happened but I feel sorry for the kids. Just a little baby and a toddler and they have to have that happen at their house.

Put the poop on the neighbors front door stoop or where ever you see them exiting their house. If that doesn't work give them some of your chicken poop. Tell them they shared theirs with you, now you are repaying the favor.

Having only read the OP, I'm not sure if this has already been said, but here goes.....
I bought a "have-a-heart" trap for wood chucks/ground hogs(raccoons, possums, skunks, cats), for about $40.00, about four years ago, at Hope Depot.
