Okay, 9 weeks old, 2 boys or boy and a girl?

you can see it best on the second picture, the one on the right is only a week behind the one on the left but is starting to develop shiny feathers like the left one has and is very similar just a bit leaner than the first, then look at the legs, they both have chunky legs, also an indicator they are boys. Others have pointed out the combs too
I guess I was really hoping it was just the one. Thanks for confirming. :hmm

I will say though, when I get chicks I watch them for around 10 minutes. I pick the ones that usually run or hide. The more adventurous ones I avoid. So far I've never ended up with a cockerel.

Well then I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I went in looking for the lively, peppy chicks! Thanks for the tip, if I end up getting another batch I’ll definitely shift my strategy.

In general, I have found this to be true. However, in my flock of yearling EEs I do have one unusual hen who has always, even as a chick, been much more confident and curious than her flockmates. Her name is Friendly. I admit I was surprised she proved to be a pullet.
