Okay, anyone but me watch Glee?

I watched it when it was new maybe the first 3/4 of the season and thought what a neat show/idea but when the storyline started depicting certain behavioral subjects among the "students" and teachers and promoted things I feel are wrong I lost interest. The show had potential they just muck it up with drama... it was no longer about music. Too bad.

While I enjoy the show, I also watch it with a HS teacher's eye. Many of the stories have dealt with topics such as bullies, cliques, gays, teenage drinking, teenage sex, eating disorders, etc--that teens need to see openly discussed. The writers do show the consequences of the behaviors as well so there are morals to the stories. The best way to get these messages out is to hook the kids on the music. The only problem I have is that, often, they become too overly dramatic. But then they have to resolve the problem in an hour with musical productions between. It certainly isn't a Disney-fide HS musical.

I agree Mort, one thing I have noticed is they almost never have the parents involved in the activities and that is just not so at least at my sons high school. I think the thing that turned me off the show the most was the idea that there was too much drama within one club... in one hour and that it was not entertaining to me anymore. I watch these type shows to relax but it has to resemble some form of reality and it doesn't really do that it seems to "invent" things for the hour. I have been watching Grimm and so far it is OK but I always have liked mystery/sci-fy shows.

Have you watched Once Upon a Time? I've gotten hooked on it for some reason.

ABC--Sunday nite at 8. But it is a show you have to have gotten in at the beginning on to understand it--combination of fairy tales and Scifi--not unlike Lost. The premise is that the evil Black queen put Snow White and all the fairly tale characters under a spell where they cannot have happy endings. They now are trapped in a town in New England. If you can update yourself on the Internet http://abc.go.com/watch/once-upon-a-time/SH55126545 it would help make things easier to follow--tonight is a repeat of the 3rd entry in the series and there have been 7 episodes. Interestingly the characters are all taken from the Disney versions of the fairly tales which isn't a surprise considering that the show is shot at Disney studios and broadcast on ABC.

Love love love this show. Me and my daughters are very much hooked. As for Glee, its funny, I was actually going to put that out there to BYC'ers like the op did. I've only seen a tiny bit of it, with the first episode I've ever watched being last Tuesday night's. I thought it was alright, a little high on the drama scale, but I do like the singing. My husband felt the need to flash me "what in the world are you watching looks" here and there. It's not normally the kind of show I like. Aside from Once Upon a Time, I usually like stuff like Walking Dead, or Sons of Anarchy. I don't know, sometimes shows like that are fun. Not sure its one I'd watch all the time, but maybe here or there.

I'd also add that if you want to watch Once Upon a Time, I highly recommend you either watch the past episodes, or see if you can find summaries of the past episodes somewhere online. It will really help you understand whats going on. It's one of those shows that, although you could just watch any episode, its much better and makes much more sense if you know everything that is going on.
