Am I crazy?

I started out with wanting JUST ONE chicken. Now I have 13 hens and 1 rooster with 29 in the bator. I just ordered the new book along with a BYC My Pet Makes Me Breakfast shirt. Hubby already rolls his eyes at me. Everytime I get a package in the mail now, the first thing outta his mouth is "That better not be any more chicken $***!" And its not chicken poop, its.. uhh chicken related though.

Ive already got way too many eggs that I can handle. Right now we have about 5 dozen in there right now. Then when these 29 hatch.

Im seriously think Im gonna have to buy another frig just to keep all the eggs.


Is there anyone else out there with this problem? Im pretty sure theres not.

ps, make lots and lots of quiche! Takes up the eggs in a hurry!!! then there's the breakfast bake quiche's ...... yummy!

i was going to have only 6 chickens..now i have 19..i was never going to own a roo..now i have 4 of them..

The only thing is I dont like quiche.

My younger girls are just now starting to lay so I have lots of little eggs. When they start really laying eggs I think I am going to sell them. Not sure how much a dozen. I thought $2.00 or $2.50, not really sure though.


Redhen, yea I know what you mean. I hadnt planed on ANY roosters but now I have one, I know with this new set I will have some though. I have black copper marans and araucanas, with one of my EE hens/araucana roo thrown in. I know I will have roosters in both batches, so I plan on keeping at least one of each.

We started with 6 hens and one roo. Now we have 36 chickens, two turkeys, 3 ducks and 2 goats. Lets not mention the three puppies.

Folks call me Doc everyday.... after an injection last Saturday someone called me Jesus Christ and I said, "No, I'm Doc Mahonri, but folks get me confused with him all of the time!"

So getting it 'straight' from me would be to say, Yeah, you gotta it bad kid!

We started with 16.

We had 44 at one point... down to 31 now and I have to cull down to 26... but then I'm gonna hatch some more in Nov/Dec.

I don't even know how many chickens I have anymore... I started out with 2, got 8 more, the next week I got 8 more... last count I had over 70 and I've hatched out at least 20 more since then... with more in the bator.

My husband used to think my new hobby was amusing. Today he didn't sound very amused. I think he feels I spend more time with the chickens than I do him

If I ever have to chose between the two... think I'll chose the chickens.

Yep... I need a therapist.

Whoops!started out with a "handful" then got some more, next came the peacock, then the guines, then a couple more hens, then 40 more, on Saturday I pick up another 40 ........ yep addiction got to all of us....... oh did I mention that in November I get another 40 rescues....... lost count now......... must control myself, must control myself, must control myself..... .......

I wanted a pair of hens to lay eggs. Then I adopted an older hen that had been abandoned, then I thought a pair of chicks would be fun . . . . . . so far, that's it. . . . . . . for now. . . .. .
