Okay... im giving up on the hatch....

It is day 22 for some silkies and ameraucana eggs under a broody hen. I started with 13, now i have 7, and all the lost ones were rotten. So, tomorrow or monday i am taking out the remaining eggs and im going to the feed store and getting some day-old babies. SO...... When, how, and where do i put them? Thanks everybody-Tanichca

You can bag them and throw them in the regular garbage. Some people open them up to see where the growth stopped. Good luck on your new chicks. Hope next time the broody works for you...it's so wonderful watching that.

Did you candle them to make sure they were gone? If they are just put them in a plastic bag and put in the garbage can.

OH haha my mistake... i meant where do i put the babies?

im going to check the eggs for signs of any growth. i wish i could have gotten some of my own babies....

If the chicks ~ you can slip them under the broody after dark. You might want to leave the eggs under her until you get the chicks and then swap them out so she doesn't leave the empty nest.

Isn't day 22 a bit premature to be tossing them?

I thought it was recommended to wait at least til day 25.

I would candle them first, they could just be slow in hatching.

Im not tossing anything till i can get some chickies, which will probably not be before tuesday, day 25. just tomorrow im giving up on getting anything....
