Mash should always be served wet or the birds can just pick and choose what they want and not get the full nutrition in the feed

I like to give chicks dry mash, in a chick feeder, but the adults all get wet mash. The adults sneeze and choke on the dry mash. If its a small hatch you can get away with a small bowl or dish nestled in the shavings with dry mash. This works for the first few days while they figure it out.

If all the pieces are ground up small, so the chicks cannot pick through and choose favorite parts while leaving other parts behind, then you can serve it wet or dry or even a dish each way to see which way the chicks prefer it.

If it has a bunch of whole grains and some powder, making it wet will make all the parts stick together so the chickens eat it all. Otherwise, the chickens will pick out their favorite grains and seeds, then eat the ones the only sort-of like, and completely skip the powder (which usually contains important things like vitamins.)

I've seen the word "mash" used several different ways, so I'm not sure which one it is here.
