Okay, Lets change his mind!

Awww! I think so many animals have the potential, people just don't give them a chance to show their intelligence. I think in ten years, chickens will be the new dogs

I know, my mom now asks the dogs jokingly, "Why don't you do anything useful like the chickens do?"

They will become tame if you spend enough time with them. Some of ours came to us at a month, and they HATED handling and people in general. If you have enough patience, they will come around. Treats are the best thing to help win them over. I think since most chicks come from the horrible conditions of a hatchery rather than a natural hatch with their mamas, they have an intense fear of people for a long long time. The ten we got from a hatchery were handled gently everyday by me since day two and they were still very scared of me until the last few months. They have finally settled into their life and let me handle them and pet them without having a fit.

Oh okay, the chicken on the harness is too cute!!

I will continue handling them even though they really seem to hate it. I like to flip them over and they just fall asleep like that and I am not restraining them. They LOVED the crickets, it was halirous a dozen were gone in 30 seconds, it must have been a record!

Ooh I should mention that I talked to my dad, I just explained to him how chickens make good pets and I used some examples from here like the chickens jumping on your laps, sleeping on your bed, following you, etc. I even told him about the 1 chicken in over 100 being mean. He just smiled and hugged me...typical

However I did change his mind, he didn't argue or even give me a funny look too.
