Okay, so I am going to sound like a dummy about goats... Now with PICS

His are horns and needs to be redone or have them removed. They were done but a bad job and you can tell as they are not symetrical. she needs to be redone also. I would call the vet and have him do them with a calf disbudder. Its not to late as he can either remove them with horse hoof nippers and caurterize them and then no more worries. It can get bloody doing it this way but when they do a bad job disbudding this is what has to be done. Sorry she did such a lousy job of it and you have to fix it.

Whatever you do, do it soon. The longer you wait the messier, bloodier, and more painful the job will get. The wether looks like his are going to grow into fairly normal looking horns.

By the way, from what I've heard from experienced packgoat people, bucks should not be "wethered" until they are 6 or 7 months old. I know most goat breeders wether at a very young age because it's easier and less traumatic for the goat. But most people are just going to butcher them pretty soon anyway. Wethers that are going to be kept for a full lifetime as pets or work animals need their urinary equipment to be fully developed before being neutered. That's so they will be able to pass urinary calculi (UC) stones later in life. UC is a major concern for wethers. There is some debate about what causes it, but neutering late is the best prevention.

If it were me I'd wait til they were big enough and band them. You just have to be careful to be sure you get the band below the horn, and then in a month or so they will fall off.

I agree, I don't think the wether's horns were done at all. Did you check to see if he really did get banded??

You never know...
At this point, can't you just leave their horns? Getting rid of them will be bloody, especially the wethers!! I honestly don't think I would risk that.

I've got to toss another check mark in the "wasn't done at all" column. I don't think either of them were done. They wouldn't have "scurs" at only 11 weeks old. If they were done, even poorly, I think it would take a bit longer than that for scurs to develop. Besides, that little wether's horns are too nice and even to be scurs.

But they are absolutely adorable no matter what...if you plan on showing them or really want them de-horned for whatever reason, at their age me personally I would get a vet involved rather than try to remove the horns myself. But that's just me.

And I'm probably a weenie.

My 2 year old wethers scurs are smaller than that. The guy I got my goaties from does a great job but ended up with one with scurs. It took months before I noticed he was gonna have them.
