Okay.....someone tell me this is "normal"

Me too!
This weekend we are moving the "section 8" housing down closer to the lake with a run going out into the lake.
The hope being that the babies will start getting used to being on the lake and the "girls" will stay down by the water with them.
Probably going to keep the girls in the pen a little longer until more mature.
 
i believe that it is completly normal fro a drake to do that i have khaki campells and that sound like what my drake does
so i'd say he will eventually leave them alone but if not maybe fence a little area to seperate them from your drake.

Everyone is now on the water full time.
We held them all together until they were all big enough to release as a flock.

My big drake pretty much hangs with the Canada geese that pass through and just comes over every now and then to "try his luck with the ladies".
I think he has found facing 5 at once a little more challenging than when we first tried to release them a few at a time.
Releasing them as a flock was a MUCH better idea.
