okay, what breed do I need?

My chinese goose is 2, and he's never had a lady goose. He has a flock of ducks though. I am thinking about getting him a lady-friend... I would like one that laid eggs, and is nice. what breed do I need? we have a big pond and secure housing.

Do I need a chinese goose? Does he care? Are they more likely to get along? Are they more likely to have viable babies if they're the same kind?

Geese can crossbreed and if he is not given a choice he'll take what he can get. However, my Seebies stay with the Seebies, and my Africans stay with the Africans, and the 1 Embden Gander stays with the resident Canadians and yes we have "clonkers" to prove that they can crossbreed (despite what the Game Bird Expert told me!). In general, given a choice, "birds of a feather..." but being male :-D he will take whatever he can get. If you plan on selling eggs or goslings, go for another Chinese.
