Okay what would you do with this pest

I'm pretty sure it's a raccoon, I can't shoot it and not sure if I'm allowed to relocate it. I already set a trap, now what?

Call animal control to remove it for you, or your local Department of Wildlife office.

you could drive it TO animal control, then they wouldn't see the chickens!

If you set a trap, you really should have a plan beforehand as to what to do with the animal once you catch it. Do you have any friends who know how to handle a gun? You could take the trap out in the country and dispose of it there. Relocating it could possibly spread disease and dump your problem on someone else. Not to mention, it's been mentioned many times on here that relocating is illegal in most states. If you can't dispose of the animal, I would suggest that you UNset the trap and work on beefing up your coop security if you think it will get in. Electric fencing can be a good deterrent.

Gypsi they won't take it if I do that

Bobbi-J I had to borrow the trap and I lost three chickens in two days because of this thing. I don't have money right now to do anything fancy. I fixed the enterance point, but that's all I can do.

Once you catch it, toss the cage and all in to a pond or large water bucket.
