and this morning I found a half pecked baby in the middle of the coop!!!! My durn chickens grabbed that baby and pulled it out from under the broody....
Needless to say, they are banned from the coop for a while. I penned them up with the geese, and BOY are they ticked off!!!The chickens and the geese.
The eggs weren't due to hatch until tomorrow, and I almost stepped on it when I went in to check on her. I put it up under her, and she was so thrilled to have it back! I noticed another egg was pipped, too! (and one was mashed like a turkey pancake.....but we don't want to talk about that....
) This is a Broad-breasted hen we're talking about. She tries sooooo hard to be careful with them, but bless her, she is a cow. It's like watching an elephant sitting on a litter of kittens. Lets hope she's a good mother.....its looking real good right now!
