Okies in BYC

Oddly I have been in Washington State since last march and it never got this cold. I came home about the 2nd week of Jan. It's still warmer there (right next to Canada). I wish I could spend time outside with the kids now that I'm home and rested. I don't like this AT ALL.

I made it over to the OSPF (Oklahoma State Poultry Federation) APA poultry show in Shawnee on Saturday. We entered a half dozen Legbars. It was a pretty competitive show with 16 Legbars in the exhibit. Cindy Bailey from Bristow entered a Cock that has best of breed at five previous shows. Looking at her birds before the show I told her that I thought a younger cock that she had entered for its first show looked like a much better bird that her 5 times winning cock. The judge thought so too and gave her younger cock the best of the Cream variety. I had two five-year-old hens at the show. My cream hen had won reverse of breed behind another one of my pullets at a show with about 30 Legbars in it 4 years old. She took reserve of the cream variety. My other hen had never shown before although she was the 2nd place pullet in the Cream Legbar on-line show behind the best of show pullet four years ago and then was Best of Show in the on-line Legbar show as a hen. I have always been afraid to show her for fear that she would show well at a live show as she did in the photo on-line shows. She did okay. She was the reserve of the Crele variety. The judge said that of all the birds there that she had the best type, but over-all the Crele pullet shown by Paul & Angela Smith took best of breed.
So...it felt like being at National with a five-time Best of Breed being beat out by at least two other cream birds. Then the crele birds hen that had won best of show out a hundred entries in the on-line show was beat out by an up and coming pullet for best of bread. It was a good exhibit.

I spent most of the day with the Legbar breeders but got over to look at the white call ducks. They were next to the heavy geese. They were huge. We have done some African geese in the past which is what I think of for the size of a good and those heavy goose breeds withe 2-3 times that of an African goose. They would dress up larger than a heritage turkey for Christmas Dinner.
Hi, can you post a link to the Cream Legbar club please?
