***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I got 2 Naked Neck's and 2 Cochin bantams from Robin today, they're just darling and settling in nicely. Robin, thanks for meeting me 1/2 way-that saved 2 hrs driving and I greatly appreciate it!
Ok, now my husband might've gotten carried away with the whole chicken math thing once I explained it to him.....you see, we went to pick up 4 chickens from Robin, right? Well my husband said the 2 NN's don't count because well...they're naked necks. And then he went onto explain that since the girl at McDonald's messed up my coffee order PLUS forgot to put salt on the fries that means you have to subtract 4 chickens (his reasoning, not mine). So it seems we went to Bristow and got 4 chickens yet by the time we got home we had negative 2 chickens! If this keeps up how on earth am I ever going to get a flock built up??

We are just pulling out of the Blanchard auction. It is 10:40 & still going! I imagine another hour left. Think it is a chicken lovers lock-in Grown ups & kids alike were all showing signs of being way too tired. There were some good buys and also some birds that went high. Scored a bunch of bronze guineas & some more chocolate. Really should count how many guineas we own now, but then I might have to admit that we actually have more guineas than chickens now. Not sure how often I can make the Blanchard sale, don't think I can manage to get the kids out of bed for church Sunday after getting home @1130.

The Oklahoma auction thread does need to be updated. The Blanchard sale doesn't do goats now & starts @5 for the misc stuff. There was so much misc stuff-- lots from barnswallow-- that the birds didn't start until 730. I was hoping to buy some hatching eggs but there wasn't any.

When I get home I will have to get these birds settled in, then check my incubator. Had little chicks hatching when I left this am to take the kids skeet shooting. the eggs were 3 days late-- blame it on keeping the on the bottom shelf of the cabinet incubator the whole time. Going to see if adding another fan inside might help. I dnk!

Good idea Kassaundra, the only problem is, I can't think of any place I know the temp of for sure. But your post inspired me to kick in a few extra brain cells and I used my human oral thermometer and decided my new digital was right on the mark. Checking the temp one more time, and if it's still in the correct range.. the eggs are going in. Thanks so much for the reply!!

Had a good time at Blanchard tonight. Got to meet JCatblum, and saw some other BYC buddies: Al, Elwood, Muesky, Mjgigax, NoCityboy, BFrancis, Michael D, Yonderoak and Elle, hope I'm not leaving anyone out.
Missed seeing some of the regulars, P&B, Carla, Gerald, et al!
Sold some, Bought some, swapped some.
Drooled over some Wheaten Marans but I wouldn't pony up the $250 plus bucks that the dozen of them sold for. Bought some Roundhead/Dom game cockerals, some wire and a couple of waterers.
I am unwound now so I am heading to sleepyville.
