I see a Serama in my future, but not till Spring.

they are characters for sure! these two normally hang out on the top of the hutch, so today i go back in and no birds, could hear them, and they were chilling out behind the monitor!

the medicated grower will not hurt a grown bird. the levels of medication are only enough to limit growth cococidia and not actually treat them, this allows the birds develop an imunity to them for life. this is why some adults can get cocidiosis since they are only actually immune to what they grow up exposed to.

This is good to know. I already have a bag of medicated grower for the tiny chick I have. I will start them on it tomorrow before I leave for Moore.

They don't need it, but it won't hurt them either. I've never had a batch of chicks come down with cocci that were brooded by a hen.

i wonder why? i've also noticed they don't get pasty butt either- maybe its just more normal?

My thinking, cause I noticed that too, is they don't suffer from stress since they have the comforting presence of their mother always near them. She tends to their every need, whenever they need it. Humans aren't near as attentive, no matter how hard they try.
