***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning everyone. Still no crowing from my Serama this morning, maybe its just laryngitis?

Hey Monty,
I thought about you yesterday. I had a six county run to make and I started at Eufaula, then Okema, then on to Shawnee, then up to Chandler, next to Stillwater and last was Guthrie. Then to our Duncan office for a few minutes then back to good old Calera.
When I got close to Shawnee I thought about calling you because it was almost lunch time but when I looked at what I had left I opted to just keep on moving because I knew if we started talking "chickens" I would not make the other counties. Maybe we will get a chance to run up to Shawnee on the 10th. Things are kind of busy right now so I am not sure what our schedule will be.

Hi, It would have been great if we coulda pulled it off. I know how it is when you are on the road and having to keep a schedule though. maybe next time. I am not sure of my schedule for Shawnee. Right now it doesn't look like I will get to be there at all, but I might be able to squeeze in some afternoon time.
How is Grace?

You are right Matt. They told me the barrels will hold 340 lbs of feed. Thats like almost 7 bags of feed bringing the cost down to 10 something a bag. Only thing I havent figured out how I will handle the barrels here when I go to unload. Great feed. If buying at Harrah and driving any distance call them at 405-454-0044 to make sure they have it mixed. Their equipment is old and some days they are sold out.

Thanks guys!

Can anyone give me directions to this place? I would be coming off 240 to Harrah rd...I tried the phone number but apparently they're too busy to answer the phone, lol. Thought I'd head over there later this morning, going to go ahead and try it, and also picking up some bags for other "East siders" lol.

BTW, Good Morning All!

Good luck!

They see not going to have any Game Cock Ration for at least two days, they had the big paddle that mixes the feed break on them yesterday, that's why they weren't answering.

I posted this in another section but thought maybe someone over here could give me some helpful advice as well:

I have found two hens so far (one Monday the other one Tuesday night) that have the gurgling breathing sound, runny nose and watery eye. I have seperated them and each have received a dose of LA200 so far.

I listened in the coop for a while last night and did not hear any more similar sounds. I occasionally have heard some sneezing(a few days before), but nothing I was alarmed about. I have had them all (except the two seperated) on Durmycin for about 4 days because of that sneezing I heard and because they are not willing to get out of the very cold rain.

Any other ideas on what I could be doing or what I should not be doing? Any other meds to use?

Is it pretty much the same feed? A mixture of grains and pellets at a higher protein %?

I haven't fed it, don't know if it has pellets, but I am sure its pretty similar.

Yes, the longer they are on the vine the better. And when you do cut them, leave about 3 inches of the vine on the gourd. They need to dry with lots of air flow. I set mine on top of the dog pen, a big pen made from 2x4 welded wire. It's in the car port so there is air flow and protection from rain and snow.

You 'gourdheads' talking about gourds bring back old memories....in another lifetime I was a 'gourd artist'....haven't done any for years....but I painted houses 'in the round' on gourds...did collections of streets (like a village) with each house numbered. I think 2005 was my last year to do it. Here is an old picture of some of my larger gourds...these pictures are all I have on this computer, but I will get some finished painted ones off my old computer at home when I get some time.
I liked painting the 'apple' gours and the 'tear-drop' shaped ones...they made the best houses.
