***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello everyone this is DeAnn and Im dochenry's other half. I dont get on BYC much so after POOPS I promised Sooner that I would post and be more active so here I am!! Had a wonderful time at POOPS again and feel honored to be involved with all the OKIES every year. We are headed home with all our treasures and are discussing who is going in what pen, etc. Also discussing how early we should be up in the morning and in the Home Depot parking lot buying building supplies to make pens for some unplanned purchases by both of us!!!

Gary -
Thank you for posting your pictures. Several things are apparent from the pictures
1) If anyone went hungry - it was their own fault. That was a lot of food!
2) I really need to lose some weight

3) The photographer is seldom in any pictures of an event
4) There were several areas of birds for sale and groups of folks visiting that I apparently missed

Seriously, you did a great job of capturing the smiles and spirit of fun experienced yesterday as we renewed friendships, made new friends and had a good time.

WEll we made it back to Tennessee about 1:00 this afternoon. Got home to lots of problems with the home flock. The neighbor who I asked to watch and care for stuff, won't be asked again! Its cold here like it was in Okla.,the shed where the baby chicks are was wide open,no covers over the brooders, but other than being really cold none of the chicks were dead, yet! No so good in the loft, the light went out of that brooder where the mid size chicks can collect when its cool. So they bunched and four were dead. Then the coop where the biggest young birds are was totally ignored,no food or water for three days! I feed two kinds of feed, one was barely touched the other was totally out. And two hens hatched ,one managed to keep hers in the nest, the others got out and fell to the ground where they chilled andd died. He later said"yeah that hen over there hatched but when I tried to get the chicks like you said she pecked me,so I left her alone! GRRRR! A grown man afraid of being pecked by a bantam!Oh well so much for my rant. Next time I am going to hire a pet sitter to come in I think!
All birds made it home and are enjoying food and water and stretching their wings(except the bunny, its stretching its legs!lol.
Really had a great time. And so many friendly people. I did miss seeing Stimp,Was he there? I sure hated not reconnecting with him.
Shavon I really like the babys, they set in my lap most of the way home! Their colors are going to be so cool!

Thank you Grace's Dad for posting the photos, I enjoyed seeing them! So sorry to hear about the neighbor not caring for the chickens of the TN member. I'd be so upset. Yeah, hopefully you can find a pet sitter next time. I don't have banties and one of my black marans likes to peck but I just put on a thin pair of those rubber fingered garden gloves and it's no big deal. I don't see how that man could just let those babies die, couldn't he have put them in a box with something to keep them warmer? So sorry to hear about that. My BF killed my fave ameracauna, Snowy, because she laid a soft egg. I was so upset. Needless to say he's been my ex for a while now. He wasn't taking care of the chickens so I finally got them back with me. I give them oyster shell and their shells are all great now. Snowy was my very best layer and had light green/blue eggs. So I bought the 4 new baby ameracaunas 3 weeks ago and come Oct. I'll have pretty light eggs again.

Well Veggie chick, from what you were telling us about yourself the other day ,I'd say it's his loss for sure!lol
Yeah I hated to come down on the guy ,and didn't want to make him feel bad ,but you would have thought a grown man would be a better Shepard! Especially since he is a Shepard so to speak! He is a preacher! Lol
