Shirt sleeve weather here!!!

Moved the broodie hens into the hot tub room and took the OEGB games Fred and Ginger and the d'Anver LilGuy outside out of quarantine...set their cages on the ground while I finished preparing their spot in the barn and hen house. Don't guess they had ever been on grass before from the way they acted. LilGuy had a harem of big girls come to gaulk at him so he put on a crowing show and hasn't stopped yet.
Candled the eggs under the New Hampshire and let her keep 11 - 3 are suspect but it has only been a week. Will candle those again around day 16. It is a whole lot quieter in the HT room and they settled in quickly.

NNN is still molting. The three babies are really getting some feathers now.

Was cleaning the lovebird cage and Midnight and Snuggles are brooding two eggs in a feed cup...that is a determined hen! The other pair... Sophia and Naranjo... has taken up residence in another feed cup and might do the same thing. She is really getting to old to go into egg cycle and doesn't stop if you take her eggs. So you have to boil hers and give them back to her...she always wants 6 eggs. I purposely have not given them nest boxes and change up the "furniture" but when you got to lay....

Since we aren't doing Christmas until Tuesday, Roger took advantage of the nice weather and has scattered seed, checked fences and is down at the pond visiting with his brother and nephews who came to fish.

WEll we got a couple of hours sleep then went to the daughters for a chilli dinner. Wife and them went to the movies. I came home and moved one of my coops to a new spot.Fed and watered everything. And discovered Christmas Day babys!

Merry Christmas everyone. We've had a lazy day. I've enjoyed it. The four of us just stayed home pretty much all day. Andrew and Jordan went and fed cattle before the sun came up. We opened presents when they got back. The kids really enjoyed their gifts even though we didn't get any toys this year. Lauren received one toy from Jordan, but that was it. We decided that since neither of them really play with toys, there was no point in buying them. They received clothes and books. My dad drove out from the city and spent a couple of hours visiting with us. Dinner is almost done. We are waiting on the fresh bread and then we will eat. We are having the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies. I boiled a couple dozen fresh bantam eggs. They will be used for deviled eggs and some in the gravy and the rest for salad topper. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday.

Merry Christmas everyone! a quiet one here, went to the inlaws and had ham and all the fixins, MIL made me some quilted Chicken placemats, other than that very quiet and enjoyed the family! hope you all have a peaceful evening! And many more chickens in the future!

I slept most of the day, but I was up all night w/ calls. I'm still at work, but so far so good today. I will get off at 0800 in the morning.
I brought the last of my custard to eat, so guess I'll need to make some more.
