***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I agree on the economy, I worry about that alot. I hope whatever you have going on, takes off for you.

I am enjoying the thread. I don't have alot of time to completely read it but will keep it book marked.

Robin, now the black Cochin bantam I got from you won't budge off her egg nest. I've been taking her eggs every day but I got 2 eggs from the OEGB pen today and an egg from the Modern Bantam pair so I gave her those & let her keep her 1 since I'm willing to keep anything that might hatch. All I had to do is put them down in front of her, she grabbed them with her beak and shoved them under her and glared at me like, "Don't even think you can have these back!" She's so proud to have eggs to sit on, we'll see what happens.
Ok, for those interested in feed....Guthrie Grain closed and Harrah hardly ever has any made, they were out again today when I called, but Luther Feed at Rt 66 & Luther Rd has a game cock feed that looks really good. My birds just love it, the Cochin girls were trying to climb into the bowl. I free feed them Nutena All Flock also but it's this gamecock stuff they all like so well. The guy said it's got corn, oats, wheat, milo, horse pre-mix pellets (soybean based), layer pellets and Sure Champ pellets (http://www.biozymeinc.com/BackOffice/ProductSheets/Sure_Champ_Horses.pdf). This stuff looks really good and they have a nice place there, they mix all their own feed. You could always mix in catfish pellets or anything else you wanted, too. It's $14 for a 50lb bag which isn't a whole lot cheaper than the processed stuff at Tractor Supply (or Nutrena All Flock) but it sure looks like it'd be better for them.

that was one goal. columbian is not the easiest pattern to get right it's actually fairly easy to mess up and harder to recover from if one doesn't know what to look for. So Wayne and I thought we would share rather than have folks get away from the color. You see it's the same pattern as Light and coronation Sussex, Columbian Wyandotte, Light Brahma and many others..
I will have Columbian Rosecomb by the middle of next year, although I have to make them. It is one of those colors that just pop when you see it with the contrast of black and white. I feel the need to make a blue version as well in OE and probably Rosecomb once they are going to gain more interest.
madison and you really need a Trio each, and when the rosecombs are ready them too.

be carefull with that horse feed, it is very high in lysene (2.3%) and will cause them to grow huge very very fast, just make sure it is cut down well with teh other ingredients to reduce teh overall diet.
Other than that it looks great.
