***OKIES in the BYC III ***

No wonder Carl married you-that's a genius idea. We've got trenches and holes all over the back yard and it needs tractored around anyway. We've even got an old tractor to do it with, the problem is getting my husband to do it. I think if I get on the tractor and start it & make him think I'm going to do it...that'll bring him running.

Starting a project like that works great especially if it's his toys you use.. Thats how we got a big walk in closet.. Knock out a wall and get started scares them into doing it "thier" way.

Kass - here are a few links for growing strawberries, plus another a guide on when to plant other garden crops from the OSU extension offices. These are a good guide to use and give lots of helpful tips on crop rotation, pest control and other proven methods for growing in Oklahoma.

Edited to acknowledge that the sentences I wrote above are poorly written, but I think you'll understand the meaning.

Strawberries do well if you plant them in the fall. It allows them to grow a little bit when you first plant them, then go dormant. If it gets below 16 you are suppose to cover them. Then spring you will get a good harvest from them. I think chandler is suppose to produce 1 quart berries per plant first yr if they are planted in the fall.
According to my planting schedule onions are 2/18-3/11
Spring strawberries are 2/25-4/8. That is going off OKC area recommendations.

Cooking butternut squash fries & slidesrs for dinner roasted the squash seeds & waiting for them to get cool enough foe me to eat. Bought some ground beef @ Ft Cobb meat processors & it is way too fatty for my taste. She said it was the leanest they had. I can get better meat from the commissary. Glad I only bought 10 lbs to try it out.

Thanks for all the strawberry / onion info.

Gary got me a couple of bags of allstar strawberries from a local superstore (but not wally world) anyway they are not the kind I was going to get they are June bearers and I wanted everbearers. This year I'll probably get what is at the super store since it is so close to planting time, and it is convenient I think I saw some ozark beauties they should do well here close to the ozarks and all.

I lost my war of the bunnies last year, but this year I have a live trap, what do you bait w/ to catch buggs anyway?

I caught a mouse in a live trap, so out of curiosity I released it in the chicken run, and my the dino's made short work of that mouse. That's one that won't make it back in my house! I may get the mouse disposal duty from now on since Gary won't take it to it's death.
