They have pictures of one not a quarter mile from me. So, we watching livestock closely. I had a Black Panter on the place for years but no one same it or the two wolves in a couple of years.
Thanks for posting that about the cats Buster. It was very interesting. Jarvis,my buddy in Oregon lives up in the moutains and he said up there you always take'protection" when you go outside up there. The big cats were protected for so long that they over populated and now are a hazard to people in the area. I'll never forget my last sighting of one. It was 11:30 Christmas eve about ten years agoat Chewy Okl. WE were headed home after picking up my daughtger for christmas. A huge mama lion crossed in front of us onthe highway,we were so excited watching her that it didn't dawn on us till later that the reason she didn't run off was because she proably had a cub on the otherside of the road. She was goregous. That was quite a Christmas present for all of us!

The rain finally got here. No storms thank goodness.

Love the baby chick pictures. They are so cute when itty bitty.

Feeling alittle rough this morning & have along weekend ahead of me.

How are you doing? Big plans this weekend?

Sorry to hear you are a bit down today, all the tree pollen is kicking my tail...
This is my weekend, yesterday and today. Back to work tomorrow for 7 days straight. it's an interesting 7 on 2 off schedule that gives me every third weekend off.
I believe I will get more of my stuff out of the way today, probably pick up pear and apple trees for steph later, need to plant the asparagus Nanakat brought over as well as a few other things that need to be out in the dirt but getting there may be a bit of a chore.
Didn't accomplish too much yesterday, had to give my truck a tune up, it's still not all back together yet but will be today, off to bigger and better things.

I will be okay, I have done it to myself staying up too late. Sorry your sinus are giving you fits, guess it will only get better with this rain & all the things blooming.

My tree's should be here today but there won't be any chance of planting them! You guys have that sandy soil so I guess that is how you are going to manage! Sure hope the sun comes out soon. I have asparagus coming with my tree's that I plan to plant in a raised bed then I will also transplant what is out in the pasture from DH's grandpa.

Morning,

I'm waiting for the plumber to check the basement. All my reading on leaky basements presupposes one already has a sump pump, and that it failed for the first time, which is why there is water in the basement now. A backup sump pump is the answer. Drat. We don't have the first pump yet. This is like jumping out of the plane and then putting on a parachute. It's just too late.

My new (old) commercial brooder with the heating element and thermostat is working well. I've got a batch of NN babies in there, and each morning when I feed the group I find half a dozen dozing, like little sun bathers, in a line under the heating coil. This picture was taken after I'd refilled the waterer. The babies are still a little leery of the big hand that keeps showing up in the brooder. I need to make time to handle them more so that they get used to being picked up.

I am setting a few eggs in my GQF this weekend. It holds four trays and I have turkey eggs for one tray.
Would like to buy some more turkey eggs and some dark brown chicken eggs. Aurora says we need some blue eggs, green eggs and pink ones.
Kai just wants eggs to hitch, don't care what kind.
You can tell we really know a lot about chickens ( NOT) but now turkeys are a different story. Would like Self Blue Slates, Red Bourbon and Chocolate Black Wing Bronze and New Holland Whites.
Would even set some eggs for other for a share.

Also learn that you can get the stuff that like embooming fluid at Sallly Beauty Supplies. It use in giving perms and it a tablet but it called something different. It the same stuff they put on new carpet that starts with a F and has hide in the word. Drawing a blank on what it called right now.
They say to use it outside and it will kill any bad germs in your bator and hatcher. Just remember to raise it out good after using. I just clean mine with that cleaner I got from Gerald. But thought I try it. I also have AC in the room with it so that problem handled which I am sure was my problem last year.

You guys have that sandy soil so I guess that is how you are going to manage! Sure hope the sun comes out soon.

I will admit we are quite fortunate to have such rich and soft soil, it is very easy to turn and will grow virtually anything. Of course it helps having a good high watertable, good soil sitting ontop of a sandrock shelf that wicks water up too so we don't have to water much.
The sun is shinning here and hope it stays, the tiller is out in the garden area but can't get to it easily with all the rain we have had this place is like walking on a sponge and the soil is soaked to the point I sink each foot nearly 1/2 inch just walking in the yard.
I turned in the top 3-4 inches of teh garden area last weekend and that is real soft now, thought it would help kill off some of teh volunteers that were coming up but it rained so much the days after I doubt it will help all now, probably just set the roots deeper but I have a plan anyway.
The weekend forcast looks good as far temps and weather is concerned so everyone will likely be working outside getting plenty done.
