***OKIES in the BYC III ***

all roses do is make me bleed!

sooner figured out how to keep me away from her house, she got bee's!

now everyone is gonna get roses so i cant come over, oh woe is me, woe is me.

looks like i'll just grab my epi pen and some bandaids and head on over to everyones houses!

LOL come on over but it isn't the roses that keep people away from my house, not the dogs, cats or chickens either. It is the KIDS!!! We have 6 and no one babysits more than once for us, lol. When they were little we used to tease they were the best birth control for teens who thought they wanted to have a baby, haha. Now they all walk and talk and that is almost worse!

i can handle kids, i scare them!

On a different note here are pictures of my roses, these were all bought last Aug. looking all dead for $1.50 a bush. I didn't think they would make it but they are doing GREAT!!! I LOVE roses and went to California last summer and the grounds we stayed on were covered with roses. I came home and told dh I want some of every color! I still need some blue roses and purple ones. I have lots of pink, yellow and one white bush but need many more if anyone has a good source of rose bushes please let me know.

Very beautiful Okieridge. I am amazed at just how stunningly beautiful are the roses I see around Tulsa. I was able to grow some nice roses in Eastern Washington but wasn't very successful in Kansas. Again they are lovely. Thanks for the pics.

Quote: You can plant it still but it will always do better if you plant it on the shortest day of the year and harvest it on the longest day, that's been the adage since there has been garlic LOL I think that's also in the almanac I once planted tomato's and was telling someone about what I had done over the weekend he said "you can't plant them right now, they'll just rot on the vine" I didn't argue just though Sure I'm betting that's rubbish, the plants did just fine I had really nice green tomato's and when they started to ripen every one of them would turn into liquid and hang in the skin like a water balloon, I started paying attention to the almanac and wise advice from my elders LOL

Thank you Bill! Having the information makes me feel so much better. Yes they are the ones from you, I never even noticed that! Those eggs are so tiny. I will keep them in my aviary when full grown. They are pretty big areas, can I keep more than one pair together? Will they claim there own area? If not I will only keep the one pair in each. As spoiled as my parrots are these guys will be fine. LOL In the aviaries are only small birds, the parrots have huge cages of their own. My house is nothing but Cages and Aquariums.
The Ameraucana and d'Anver chicks are great. I got five of each! They are totally spoiled rotten by the kids, umm and maybe me just a little!

They are in fact still in the indoor brooder and the kids carry them around and hold them while watching tv. Did you get the pics I PM'd? I was having computer issues that week and they may not have gone through.

Being if the aviaries are pretty big, a couple pairs should do fine...they are pretty much a bottom dweller so they need the bottom space instead of head room. They are territorial so they will claim their areas....your house is sounding like ours then, cages and aquariums, lol.

I didn't get the photos, but glad your kids like them! resend if you get a chance, or heck just post on the board...folks normally like looking at the babies.

Thanks for letting us know Jerry, See ya at POOPS

Any ideas on breeds for the above chicks? I think the small blue one is an OEGB, the three buff ones Orpingtons. I have no idea about the two spotty ones. They look similar but one has feathered legs. The one without feathered legs looks a little bit like an OEGB mix but I couldn't get a good picture of her.

3 is my crossbeak- poor little thing- he keeps up with the rest for now though- had to lock mama up to get these shots...she is vicious! don't know that i'll let her raise another batch- these are salmon favs-
The lady we got them from has Blue Salmon in her flock also (which is how I got my Blue Salmon boy). So you do have a chance of a Blue Salmon. I can't really tell what Blue Salmon girls look like, you have to look clear under their feathers, there's not a lot of difference from the outside. But Blue Salmon boys do look different than Salmon boys once they start feathering in.
