***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'd sectioned off part of the Buckeye coop for the turkeys to stay in until they were big enough to be outside. It worked pretty well until one of them started jumping over the four foot chicken wire I put up and would get stuck on the wrong side. I went out to feed and water the Buckeyes (whose dishes are all outside) and the turkey came stumbling out into the outdoors for the first time. I thought he must have been interested in the food or water I'd just put down, but he came right up to me and started "talking". He stayed with me until I went over by the ramp, then he climbed up into the coop and waited until I went around to put him back with the other turkeys.

I have some self blue and black modern game bantam chicks the wife doesnt want, anyone interested? Would also consider letting go of a few adults...

Ours are supposed to be for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm getting to where I can't look at the store bought birds without thinking about what goes on in those turkey houses. I know ours are enjoying life right now.

I don't know for sure ( its my first year too) but someone gave me some runners and i have planted them in some soft sandy soil and have gotten a couple strawberries off of them. not a whole lot but i don't water them as often as i should. i need to put them out with my chickens so i would remember but then I'm afraid i wouldn't have any strawberries to water at all. lol

I had a great harvest last year from a patch that was all from runners, had to give away some berries, couldn't eat them all. I moved the patch this year though. I reconfigured my garden and turned 5/8th of the area into a chicken pen!

Very tasty and makes a good sandwich spread when ground and added to other stuff.

.
LOL, I am considering a long range plan to raise them to sell the babies I hatch. I think this area has a demand for them.
