***OKIES in the BYC III ***

until you get her to the vet- massage her crop gently and feed her bread soaked in oil, it will help loosen things up
Robin, I use QuickStop (yellow powder for dog nails) when something bleeds. But you're right-you'd have to keep them from eating for a couple hours either way.
One of my 2 month old Bantam Faverolles had a huge swollen crop the other day, soft and mushy, not impacted. It's like the size of a baseball almost. She acts fine and runs around, does eat a lot of dirt scratching around. There's no bad smell or anything like that and she's eating and drinking plenty so I'm at a loss. I made a vet appt for 4:30 this afternoon. But in the meantime, does anyone have any ideas? Contrary to public opinion not ALL of my birds are my favorites. But these little Faverolles babies sure are and it worries me what could possibly be wrong.

I sort of hate to feed her anything at this point until I know. It's possible it's the beginning stages of sour crop and that's why there's no smell yet. I'm also wondering if the straw had something to do with it. Maybe I shouldn't have used straw in their pen :-(

Mitzi I don't have the special touch, but we have had 2 birds develop sour crop & DH makes them vomit then they are all better.
There is a thread where some say monistat yeast treatments work for sour crop. Told DH but he didn't want to ask for yeast cream while he was picking up his meds last time.

I'm hoping the vet will flush her crop. I'm scared if I try to make her vomit she'll aspirate and die. That'd be my luck. Monistat makes sense because its got miconazole as the active ingredient, that's what treats yeast bacteria and yeast is what causes sour crop.

Please check me once more - I'll print name tags tomorrow...

I'm bringing chicks to poops for someone but can't remember who it is.
if i am bringing you chicks let me know so they go the right place.

I just noticed something in the park rules.
It says "All dogs and Cats must be kept on a leash."
Also no fireworks! So Beth, you and Sooner better behave yourselves!
I will have some parking instructions tomorrow. They do have certain areas to park.

Hey All Ya'll Crazy About Chickens People.

I am going to get some Swedish Flower.

Can't come to Poops so if the lady with them shows will someone get her info?

Right now I'm looking to order from Greenfire. I don't have a hatcher (and can't have one) so hatching eggs is out for me.

I am looking forward to bringing them to the state.

They are eye candy. Very pretty and good layers.

You are bringing me a bunch of fancy-colored keets!! (Okay, maybe that's not you - but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.)

i have discovered something...just because the 'experts' say feed a crossbeak wet mash, doesn't mean thats what the little guy wants... he likes his dry crumbles ...woohoo! He is eating... course every now and then a crumble escapes and he goes backward trying to catch it....
