***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Elie, congrats on the hatch! I love our FBCM chicks. I can't wait to hatch out more later in the summer. Pretty Chicks I have 5 kinds of Marans and love them all. Now my splash roo is such a loud mouth but I still love him.

Well our hatch is well underway. I moved 50 eggs to the hatcher yesterday and so far 25 are out we have one pipped at the wrong end of the egg so just gonna have to see if that one makes it.

It was so good to see everyone at Blanchard tonight. Prices were blah if you were selling, great if you were buying. I did manage to find Kurt a nice partridge bantam cochin thanks to MJ, Thank you MJ!!! He was so happy to have found one. He is settled in nicely in quarentine. We also came home wtih 2 sweet little kitties. Hubby will be so happy about that, not! LOL Wish we could have stayed to the end. There were some sexlink pullets I wanted to bid on just to put them in a forever home. They looked aweful!!! I have never seen birds in that poor of shape, they looked to be pecking each other to death. I hope they found good homes where they can recover their feathers and live happily. We hope to be in Newcastle next week but my mom is having open heart surgery on Thursday so my weekend is up in the air.

Looking forward to tomorrow at home with the kids and hubby will be home sometime between 2AM and noon depending on what time the races end.

Also 1 serama hatched & no buff cochins as of yet. The serama is so tiny!!!! The other eggs are not showing signs of pips so the serama may be a tiny lonely chick. Hope not!
What day of incubation are the Serama eggs on? If it turns out to be a lone hatch, I will be happy to give you / your DD some more eggs to make up for the ones that didn't hatch.

We sat the eggs the Sunday after poops. I appreciate the offer but as far as I know we don't NEED any seramas! Taron may have a change of heart after seeing the tiny chick. Our silkie hen should be hatching out chicks in the next few days. Maybe I can sneak the serama in with the silkie so it won't be lonely. I will give them until Monday then I will candle them again. We seriously were not after eggs in the raffles but somehow managed to win them.

Had a great time at the swap meet this morning. Jared's game was cancelled so I got to go early.
We were able to spend a lot of quality time with Bfrancis, Michael Daugherty, Old Cowboy, and got to see Teach
who is about to move to Texas. Was sure good seeing all of those guys. Also got to see Dean and Jackson who came even though Poultry and Bees is in Indiana.
GOOD TIMES!

It was good catching up with you too. You guys just missed Elwood Lightfoot (Bill) too. Always enjoy visiting with poultry folks.

I have to many roosters and guinies running lose for a snake to go undetected they would sure let u know and I have railroad ties and the bottom of my pen. What else would be stealing them?

I have 18 guineas and a snake going undetected, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Woot!!! Got one snake just shy of 5 foot this morning! DH doesn't think it's the one he saw last night, but here's hoping he just misjudged size in the dark and that's our only culprit

That's a big snake. Yeta the wonder chicken loves to eat snake, but I think that is a little out of her league.

Welcome to the new BYCers, I tried to welcome everyone yesterday, but the computer at work had me silenced once more!

And he thinks it's too small to have been the one from last night!

A few weeks ago we found one that was 5 foot long in our driveway and it was missing the head and a good chunk of it's body. Not sure how it died. He did brush hog that morning, but he found it in the middle of the driveway, headless. They're big out here!
